Warner Bros. Discovery owns the American cable television network Discovery Life. Following the former's displacement in its channel slot by OWN, Discovery Health Channel and FitTV merged to form Discovery Fit & Health, which debuted on February 1, 2011, and focuses on reality programmes dealing with “life events.” Its programming is derived from the archives of TLC and its predecessors.
Discovery Life was available in over 46,696,000 American households as of February 2015 (40.1% of television-owning households).
Discovery Communications revealed on January 17 that FitTV would return on February 1 as Discovery Fit & Health. It was created as a result of Discovery Health being replaced by the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) at the beginning of the year; the network was being wound down in favour of OWN, but the business recognised that the programming still retained devoted viewers. The channel's original content was comparable to what Discovery Health was airing, but it added a morning fitness block with FitTV shows.
